Being a collaborator

A creator has invited you to help build their course. The invitation waits in your Creator Dashboard, with the role, what you could edit and any share. Accepting starts the role at once and is your agreement to the Collaborator Terms.

Before you accept

• You must be 18 or older, and still enrolled in the course.
• Choose What you could edit to see the permissions the creator has given you.
• Read the Collaborator Terms. You keep the copyright in what you add and license it to the course for good. The creator can change your role, share or access at any time.

How to accept

   Open the Creator Dashboard. The invitation is under Invitations, on Overview and on Collaboration earnings.

   Tick the box agreeing to the Collaborator Terms.

   Choose Accept. To turn it down, choose Decline, then Decline again.

What happens next

Your enrolment becomes Lifetime Access at no cost. A monthly subscription you were paying is cancelled that day; what you paid before is not refunded. You can edit what the creator granted straight away, and the creator is told.

The course's row now has Credited, Permissions, Edit and Leave. Credited shows whether you are named on the course; click it to hide or show your name.

What you can do

Exactly what the creator granted, which Collaborator permissions describes. You cannot publish, price, retire or delete the course, invite others or change who owns it. On a published course, Publish my lessons releases the draft lessons you may edit.

The copyright in what you add stays yours, and it stays in the course after you leave. What you see of the course's students is for doing your part and nothing else.

Being paid

If the creator set you a share, you earn it on every charge for the course while you are on it. Each credit clears after 14 days and is paid automatically, every day, once your cleared balance reaches $20 or the higher minimum you set.

   Open Creator Dashboard → Collaboration earnings and find Payout Method.

   Choose the country of your bank account and Connect Stripe, or give a PayPal address if you live outside the United States.

   Under Pay me by, choose Stripe or PayPal, then choose Save payout settings.

This is separate from any creator payout method you have. Credit History lists every credit with its course, rate and status, and Payout History every payout.

If something goes wrong

"You are no longer enrolled in this course…"

Ask the creator to invite you again once you are enrolled.

"This course has closed"

The course closed before you accepted.

"Collaborators must be 18 or older"

The date of birth on your account is under 18.

"Invitation not found"

The creator withdrew it. Your notifications say so.
