Collaborator shares and credit

A share is 0 to 65% of each sale, in steps of 5, from your 70%; with any affiliate commission it can never pass 65%.

A collaborator's share is a percentage of what each student pays for the course, from 0% to 65% in steps of 5. It comes out of your 70%, never out of our 30%. Shares and any affiliate commission on the course can never pass 65% together, so you keep at least 5%.

How it works

Set the share under Compensation in the permissions editor, with the − and + buttons. It shows what you keep at that rate, and how much is still available. You can set it before they accept, and change it at any time, to 0 included.

A share is credited on every charge for the course while they are on it, renewals, upgrades and bundles included. Each charge uses the rate in force that day.

The share is of what the student actually paid, after any discount. With one of our codes, your 70% is worked out on the price before the code, but the collaborator's share is of the discounted price.

An example

A $100 sale with one collaborator at 15% pays them $15, you $55 and us $30. Add an affiliate at 20%, and the same sale pays the collaborator $15, the affiliate $20, you $35 and us $30.

If collaborators take 50%, an affiliate commission can be at most 15%, and the other way round. Pending invitations count toward the 65%.

Clearing and payouts

Credits clear 14 days after the charge. A refund or chargeback takes the share back out, and a partial refund the same part of it. A chargeback decided in our favour restores it. Collaborators are paid automatically, every day, once their cleared balance reaches $20 or the higher minimum they set.

On your Revenue screen, Collaborator Payouts shows what each collaborator has earned after refunds, and Transaction History shows each charge's collaborator share. The collaborator sees every credit, with its rate, under Credit History.

Credit

A collaborator is credited only when you both allow it, and both of you allow it to begin with. You decide with Show as a credited collaborator in the permissions editor. They decide from their own Creator Dashboard, where their row shows Credited or Not credited.

Credit shows on the course page beside your name, on the course's cards, in its room and in the Collaborations section of their portfolio. It ends when the role ends.

A collaborator buying the course, or having someone buy it for them, to earn a share is fraud under the Fraud & Scams policy. A collaborator also earns no affiliate commission on a course they work on: their code is refused on it.

If something goes wrong

"That would leave the creator less than the 5% they must keep…"
The rate would pass the 65% allowance. The message says how much is left.
"Pay rate must be between 0% and 65%, in 5% increments"
Use the − and + buttons, which move in steps of 5.
"Collaborators on this course already take…"
Shown on the Affiliates tab: the commission would pass the allowance.
