Lessons

A lesson has blocks, a description, a free-preview switch and up to 25 sources; a course needs 3 lessons and 45 minutes.

A lesson is a page of blocks with a title and description, a free-preview switch, and sources. Its duration is worked out from what it holds. Select a lesson in the tree to edit it.

What's on it

Description
A sentence or two, shown in the curriculum and at the top of the lesson, and read by search.
Duration
Estimated each time the lesson saves, from its text, video lengths and assignment times, with 1 minute at least.
Free preview
The switch at the top right. A preview lesson can be read by anyone, enrolled or not.
Sources
A title and a link each, up to 25, listed at the foot of the lesson. Add a source adds a row.

How to add a lesson

  1. 1.

Point at a module in the tree and choose its +.

  2. 2.

    Give the lesson a title.

  3. 3.

Add blocks. See The block picker and the block menu.

Rules and limits

  • A course needs at least 3 lessons, 45 minutes in all, and one free preview lesson to publish. The publish page warns about lessons under 3 minutes.
  • Make the preview a lesson that teaches something. It is the best thing on your landing page.
  • A source needs both a title and a link starting with http:// or https://. A row missing either is not saved.
  • Only the creator reorders lessons or moves them between modules.
