The block picker and the block menu
Add blocks from 20 types, then rename, move, duplicate, hide, note, restore or delete each one from its menu.
A lesson is a column of blocks: text, media and activities. Add one with Add a block here, under any block. Pick from the 20 types in Add a block, grouped as Text, Media and Data. Each block's menu holds what you can do with it.
What's on it
- The name
- Click it to rename the block. For a quiz, poll, assignment, discussion, audio, thread, collapsible section or chart, students see this name as its title.
- Drag
- Drag a block to move it within the lesson.
- Duplicate
- A copy below, with all its settings. A copied required quiz or assignment is a second requirement for the lesson.
- Add edit note
- A note about your change, kept with the block's next saved change.
- Version history
- Every saved version of the block, with who saved it, when, and their note. Restore this version adds the old one as a new version.
- Hide block
- Takes the block away from students without deleting it. It shows Hidden to you.
- Prerequisites
- Make something else required before this block opens.
- Delete
- Removes the block from the lesson after you confirm.
Rules and limits
- Changes save 1.2 seconds after you stop, and a moment later for quizzes, polls and other activities.
- Deleting a block cannot be undone from the Editor. Its versions and the answers students gave stay on record.
- A block missing something students need shows Not ready for students to you, with what is missing. Students still see it.
- A collaborator sees View only on blocks their role does not let them edit.
If something goes wrong
- "Your last changes to "…" were not saved…"
- The lesson changed somewhere else. Choose Reload lesson and make the change again.
- "Delete a block that is required elsewhere?"
- Another lesson requires it. Delete anyway removes the requirement too.
- "You cannot add blocks to this course."
- Your collaborator role does not allow adding blocks.
