AI on ACADA

Every course declares its AI-generated material before you enrol; the Assistant is the only AI ACADA runs, and nothing you post trains one.

Two things on ACADA involve AI: the ACADA Assistant, and the declaration every course makes about its own material. A course's declaration is on its page before you enrol. Nothing you post trains an AI, and no decision about your account is made by one.

How it works

Before a course can be published, its creator answers one question in Course Settings, under AI Disclosure. A course without an answer cannot be published.

The answerWhat the course page shows
No AI-generated materialNothing. The teaching, images, audio and video are the creator's, or licensed from people.
Contains AI-generated materialAI-generated material: some of the course was made by AI, with the creator's note if they wrote one.
A synthetic instructorSynthetic instructor: an AI voice, avatar or persona presents some or all of the course.

AI that only helped, by drafting, editing, translating, captioning or touching up an image, needs no declaration. Material it made that is published as the teaching does, and so does anything the Assistant drafted for the course.

When ACADA places it

Where we find AI-generated material that was not declared, we place the declaration ourselves. The course page then adds Placed by ACADA under the AI Content Policy. The creator is told and can appeal it from Account standing. They can raise the level or edit the note, but not lower it.

What AI may not do here

  • Be the course. A course must be substantially its creator's own teaching, declared or not.
  • Pretend to be a person. A synthetic instructor has no invented credentials, and an AI likeness of a real person needs that person's consent. Passing one off as real to sell a course closes the account.
  • Grade you. Quizzes are scored against the answers and pass mark the creator set, and a certificate follows when every lesson is complete.
  • Write a review. A review written by AI is not your own account of the course.

What ACADA itself runs

  • The ACADA Assistant, which runs on Anthropic's API and answers about the platform and the course you have open: The ACADA Assistant.
  • Nothing else. Choosing a language from the language menu uses Google's own page translator, which is not ours: Language and currency.
  • Nothing anyone posts on ACADA trains an AI model, ours or anyone else's.
  • A person reads every report, copyright notice and appeal.

Rules and limits

  • The declaration shows on the course page, not on a bundle's page or at checkout.
  • Report a course whose AI material is not declared with the reason Spam or misleading, saying what is undeclared.

Your own use of AI in coursework is Academic integrity. The full rules are the AI Content Policy.
