XP and levels

Lessons earn 100 XP, modules 500 and courses 2,000, plus achievements; your total sets one of 15 levels, from Newcomer to Ascendant.

Achievements

Open it

XP is a running total of what you have done on ACADA. It only goes up, and it sets your level, one of 15, each with a title. Others see your XP and level only while you are on the leaderboards; see The leaderboard.

How it works

A lesson
100 XP, the first time you mark it complete.
A module
500 XP, when every lesson in it is complete.
A course
2,000 XP, when every lesson in it is complete.
A correction
100 XP, when a creator approves a correction you proposed. See Correcting a lesson.
An achievement
Its own amount, up to 200,000. See Achievements.

An example

You finish a course of 3 modules with 4 lessons each. The 12 lessons earn 1,200 XP, the 3 modules 1,500 and the course 2,000: 4,700 in all. From 0, that is level 3, Learner, with 2,300 to go to Student at 7,000. Achievements come on top: as your first course, Course Complete alone adds 5,000.

Rules and limits

  • A level grants its title, shown beside your name. After level 10 the ladder goes up in steps: 15, 20, 30, 40 and 50.
  • Reaching a level sends Level up! You reached Level N with the title, if level-up notifications are on, and lights the dot on Achievements.
  • XP is never taken away. Un-marking a lesson, a refund or leaving a course leaves it as it is.
  • The Achievements page shows your level, the XP to the next one and the whole ladder.
