Skills
Finishing a module adds the skills it teaches to your account; they show on your portfolio only if you pin them.
Each module lists the skills it teaches. When you have marked every lesson in a module complete, those skills are added to your account. They show on your portfolio only if you pin them.
How it works
- A skill is earned once. If you already hold it from another course, finishing a module that teaches it adds nothing new.
- Skills you have not pinned are private. Pinned skills show under Skills on your portfolio.
- Skills unlock achievements at 1, 3, 10, 25 and 50 skills. See Achievements.
How to pin a skill
- 1.
Open your portfolio and edit it.
- 2.
Choose Add Skills in the Skills section.
- 3.
Pick the skill. To take one off again, choose Remove from portfolio beside it.
The course-complete page offers the same choice for the skills that course gave you: press a skill to pin it, and again to unpin it.
Rules and limits
- A skill records that you finished a module that teaches it. It is not a credential, as the Credential Policy says.
- The skills on a course page and in "Skills in…" on a category page are what courses teach, for finding courses. The skills on your account are the ones you earned.
If something goes wrong
- "The skill was not added to your portfolio. Try again."
- Nothing changed. Pick the skill again.
- "Complete modules to earn skills"
- You have not finished a module yet.
