Search

The header search box finds courses, bundles, skills, categories, creators, people, lessons and messages; press / or Ctrl+K to start.

Header → Search, or press /

Open it

The search box in the header searches all of ACADA. Press / or Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on a Mac) to jump to it. Results drop down from the second character you type. Enter opens the full results page at acada.ac/search, with a tab for each kind of result.

What it finds

TabWhat it finds
CoursesListed courses. The title counts most, then the skills, category and course code, then the description and module titles.
BundlesBundles on sale, by name and description.
SkillsSkills a listed course teaches, by name or another spelling: "ReactJS" finds React.
CategoriesThe catalogue's categories.
CreatorsPeople with a listed course.
PeopleOther members with a public profile, by name or username.
LessonsFree preview lessons, and every lesson in courses you are in, which come first.
MessagesMessages in rooms you belong to, in channels you can see, newest first.

How results are ranked

Every word you type has to match the start of a word, and common shorthand counts: js finds JavaScript. Small typos are forgiven. Among equally good matches, courses with more students, a good rating and a recent publish date rank a little higher. When no course matches, the results page suggests a nearby spelling if the catalogue has one.

Before you type

With the box empty, the dropdown shows up to three lists.

Recently viewed
The last 6 courses, modules, lessons, rooms and channels you opened.
Recent
Your last 8 searches.
Trending
Searches that 2 or more signed-in people made in the last 14 days, and that found something.

Recently viewed and Recent are kept in this browser only. Clear empties each one.

Rules and limits

  • Search finds only what you could open anyway. A private course, and the lessons of courses you are not in, are never results.
  • A person with a private profile or a closed account is never a result. People need a search term: there is no list of everyone.
  • We record what you search for, for trending searches and the totals in creators' analytics. The record is separated from your account after 90 days: see section 9 of the Privacy Policy.

If something goes wrong

"Search is unavailable right now. Try again in a moment."
The search could not run. Wait a moment and search again.
"Nothing matched…"
Try fewer words or another spelling, or pick a trending search or a category on the page.
