Categories and skill paths

Each category has a page with its bundles, the skills its courses teach and its courses; prerequisites join courses into a path.

Every course belongs to one category, and each category has a page of its own. Open it from the category name on a course page, from Teaches in under About the creator, or from the Categories tab of search. On the marketplace, the category tabs filter the grid instead.

What's on a category page

Bundles in [category]
Bundles that hold at least one of its courses.
Skills in [category]
Every skill its courses teach, the most taught first. Open a skill to see the courses that teach it.
Search and filters
A search box for its courses' titles, descriptions and skills, and All Courses, Free or Paid.
Courses
Every listed course in the category, with the price for your country.
Related categories
The other categories, with their skills and some of their courses.

Skills

A skill is one entry in a shared list, so the same skill means the same thing on every course. A creator names the skills a course teaches, and each module names the ones you earn by finishing it. Search finds a skill however it is spelled: "ReactJS" and "React.js" both lead to React. See Skills.

Skill paths

A creator can require other courses first, their own or another creator's. The course page lists them under Requirements, with the ones you have completed, and you can enrol once all are done. Courses joined this way read as a path. See Prerequisites and enrolment caps.

Rules and limits

  • A category page lists the same courses as the marketplace: published, public, and not hidden for low ratings.
  • A course has one category, which its creator picks when publishing.
