The Calculator

Scientific, graphing, matrix and programmer modes in one panel, with a history of your last 25 answers in this browser.

Header → Quick tools → Calculator (Ctrl+Alt+C)

The Calculator has four modes, one tab each: Scientific, Graphing, Matrix and Programmer. Open it from Quick tools in the header, or press Ctrl+Alt+C. Type into it or use its keys, and press Enter or = for the answer.

The modes

ModeWhat it does
ScientificArithmetic, powers, sin and cos, ln, pi and e, memory keys and a History of your last 25 answers. Angles are in radians unless you switch to degrees.
GraphingDraws up to 5 curves at once, each in its own colour: type one as f1(x) =, then Add function for the next. Drag to move the view, scroll to zoom, and Reset view to come back.
MatrixTwo matrices, A and B, each 2 to 4 rows by 2 to 4 columns. A + B, A − B and A × B, or det(A) and A⁻¹ for the first.
ProgrammerA whole number in hexadecimal, decimal, octal and binary at once, with AND, OR, XOR, NOT and the two shifts.

Rules and limits

  • The ln key is the natural logarithm. For base 10, type log10( instead.
  • Graphing works in radians.
  • The Programmer mode works in 32-bit signed whole numbers.
  • History is kept in this browser only, not in your account. Clear history empties it.
  • The angle setting is not remembered: after a reload it is radians again.

If something goes wrong

"Syntax Error"
The Scientific mode could not read the sum. Check the brackets and that each operator has a number on both sides.
"That expression could not be read…"
A curve has a typing mistake. Check its brackets and operators.
"Only x can change in a curve…"
A curve uses a letter other than x. Replace it with a number or with x.
"A and B must be the same size to add or subtract them."
Set both to the same rows and columns.
"To multiply, A needs as many columns as B has rows."
Change one of the sizes so they match.
"A has no inverse, because its determinant is 0."
That matrix cannot be inverted. Check its numbers.
