The Whiteboard
Boards for drawing by hand, kept in your account, with freehand and straight lines, an eraser, undo and a PNG export.
Header → Quick tools → Whiteboard (Ctrl+Alt+W)
The Whiteboard is for working something out by hand: a diagram, a sketch, a formula. Open it from Quick tools in the header, or press Ctrl+Alt+W. Your boards are kept in your account, and the first one, Concept Sketch 1, is made the first time you open it.
What's on it
- The board tabs
- One tab per board. The + adds a board. Double-click a name to rename it.
- Freehand, Straight line, Eraser
- The drawing tools. A straight line runs from where you press to where you let go.
- Size
- The pen's width, from 1 to 14. The eraser is 4 times as wide.
- The colours
- The ink for the next stroke.
- Undo, Redo
- Take back the last stroke, or put it back.
- Show grid
- A dotted grid behind the drawing.
- Export
- Downloads the board as a PNG image.
How to delete a board
- 1.
Open the board.
- 2.
Choose the bin at the top right.
- 3.
Choose Delete board. Keep it backs out.
A deleted board cannot be brought back. Choose Export first if you want a copy.
Rules and limits
- A board saves 0.7 seconds after each stroke, and again when you close the panel or switch to another browser tab.
- Undo takes strokes back one at a time on the board you are on, earlier visits included. Redo puts back what you undid, until you close the panel or draw again.
- The small icon beside Export shows the saving: hover over it to read Saved to your account.
- Boards are private, and they are in your data export.
If something goes wrong
- "Not saved. Check your connection"
- The icon turns red. Your strokes are still on screen; draw another and it tries again.
- "Sign in to use the Whiteboard…"
- You are signed out. Boards live in your account, so sign in first.
