Flashcards
Decks of question-and-answer cards: build one from a module's key terms in a click, or write your own, then study and share it.
Header → Quick tools → Flashcards (Ctrl+Alt+F)
Flashcards are decks of cards with a question on the front and the answer on the back. Open them from Quick tools in the header, or press Ctrl+Alt+F. The quickest deck comes from a module's key terms. Choose Study Flashcards under them, and a deck is made with one card per term and opened.
What's on it
- New deck…
- Type a name to start a deck of your own.
- Manage
- The cards in the deck. Add one with a front and a back, edit or delete any card, or search with Search this deck….
- Bulk import
- Paste many cards at once, one per line, as front | back.
- Study (N)
- Go through the cards. N is how many are in play.
- N/M mastered
- How many of the deck's cards you have marked mastered.
- Share a study link
- A link to the deck that you can send to someone.
How to study a deck
- 1.
Choose the deck, then Study (N).
- 2.
Read the front, then click the card or press Space to turn it over.
- 3.
Choose Mark mastered for a card you know.
- 4.
Move on with the arrows or the arrow keys. Skip mastered leaves out the cards you know, and Shuffle mixes the order.
Rules and limits
- A deck from a module is named after the course and the module. Study Flashcards on the Course Curriculum tab makes one deck of every term in the course. A term without a definition gets no card.
- A deck made from key terms is yours from then on. Your changes do not touch the module, and a term the creator adds later is not added to your deck.
- Decks cannot be renamed. Delete one with the bin beside it.
- Anyone signed in who has the link can study a shared deck, but cannot change it. Deleting the deck stops the link working.
- Your decks are private unless you share them, and they are in your data export.
If something goes wrong
- "The deck was not made. Try again."
- Study Flashcards could not make the deck. Nothing was saved, so press it again.
- "No cards found. Put each card on its own line, as front | back."
- Each line needs a | between the front and the back.
- "N imported. N lines were skipped…"
- The lines without a | were left out. Add those cards by hand, or paste them again in the right form.
- "The card was not saved. Try again."
- What you typed is still in the form. Save it again.
- "The link could not be copied. Your browser blocked it."
- Your browser did not allow the copy. Allow clipboard access for acada.ac and choose the button again.
