Price floors

A paid tier cannot go below $4.17 a month or $34.97 for Lifetime Access, and every gigabyte of lesson files raises both.

A paid tier has a minimum price that rises with the size of the course, so the price covers what it costs to deliver. With no lesson files, Monthly Access starts at $4.17 and Lifetime Access at $34.97. Each gigabyte adds about 15 cents and $1.23.

How it works

Base figure
$9.99 plus $0.35 per gigabyte of lesson files, measured as for the publishing fee.
Monthly Access
At least the base figure × 1.25 ÷ 3.
Lifetime Access
At least the base figure × 3.5.
Rounding
Up to the next cent.

An example

A course with 2 GB of lesson files has a base figure of $10.69. Monthly Access must be at least $4.46, and Lifetime Access at least $37.42.

Free courses

Choose Free on Price & Access to make a course free. A free course has Lifetime Access at $0 and no Monthly Access. Monthly Access is always paid, and a course cannot be free on one tier and paid on the other. The publishing fee still applies.

When it is checked

Price & Access shows each tier's minimum beside it, for example Min $4.17, and refuses to save a price below it. The floor is checked when you change a price, and again when you publish.

A course that grows past its floor stays on sale at its price, and its other settings still save. Until you raise the price, the publish screen will not publish it or release new content. Every tier clears its minimum stays open on the checklist.

Rules and limits

  • Only the price you set in US dollars is held to the floor. A regional price, a bundle, our discount codes and an affiliate's buyer discount can take what a student pays below it.
  • A student already subscribed keeps the price they first paid when you change it.
  • Removing lesson files lowers the size, and the floor with it.
  • Section 3 of Creator Earnings & Payouts has the formula.

Raise the price to at least the figure shown.
