What you pay
Prices are set in US dollars, some countries pay a lower regional price, and checkout shows the exact amount before you pay.
Every price is set in US dollars by the creator, and in some countries a course costs less. The course page shows the price for your country. Stripe's or PayPal's page then shows the exact total, with any discount and tax, before you pay. That is the amount charged.
How it works
We put every country in one of four bands. A course costs 100%, 70%, 50% or 35% of its list price depending on the band, and never less than $1.00. Your band follows the country your internet connection comes from when you buy.
- When a lower band applies, the course and bundle pages say Price for [country], and the course page shows the list price struck through.
- A creator can turn regional prices off for a course. Then everyone pays the list price.
- A monthly subscription keeps the price it started at, whatever band you are in later.
Buying at a regional price from a country you are not in, for example through a VPN, is misuse under the Fraud & Scams policy.
An example
A course lists at $40 for lifetime access. In a 100% country it costs $40, at 70% it costs $28, at 50% it costs $20, and at 35% it costs $14.
Your currency
To see prices in your own currency around the site, pick one in Settings → Appearance → Currency. The amount shown beside each price is an estimate from a daily exchange rate, and it changes nothing about what you are charged.
On Stripe's page, a one-time purchase can be charged in your own currency where Stripe offers it. Stripe converts it at that day's rate and shows the amount before you pay. Monthly access is always charged in US dollars, and your bank converts it.
Tax
Where we are required to collect sales tax, VAT or GST, Stripe's or PayPal's page adds it and shows it before you pay. Your receipt lists it.
Where the money goes
Of what you pay, 70% goes to the creator and 30% to ACADA. If an affiliate recommended the course, their commission comes out of the creator's share, never out of your price. See How a sale is split.
