How a sale is credited to you

A sale is yours when the buyer came through your link or typed your code; the last affiliate before the purchase gets it, for good.

A sale is credited to you on one course, for one person, when they reached it through your link or typed your code at checkout. If two affiliates sent the same person, the last one before the purchase gets it. After the purchase it stays yours, renewals included.

Your link opens a page headed Someone recommended a course to you, which asks whether we may remember who sent them. It shows the course, and the discount if the creator funds one for your buyers.

Continue
We remember you as the one who sent them. Signed in, it is recorded at once; otherwise a cookie keeps it, and it is recorded the next time they use ACADA signed in.
Continue without remembering
Nothing is stored and nothing is credited. You may not work around that choice.

The page asks only when the link can credit someone: the course has a programme on and your affiliate account is active. Otherwise it sends the visitor straight on.

Through the code

A buyer types your code under Add a discount or referral code on the course page, or in the bag's code field. We try a code as one of our discount codes first, then as an affiliate's. Choosing Apply, or buying with the code in the field, records it as the latest touch. No link or cookie is involved.

An example

Mia opens Ana's link to a course on 5 January and chooses Continue. On 20 January she types Ben's code at checkout, and she buys on 21 January. The sale is Ben's, because his was the last touch before the purchase. If she had bought nothing, Ben's credit would have lapsed on 20 April.

Rules and limits

  • Any buyer counts, however long they have had an account, on a course they have not bought.
  • A touch that has not led to a purchase lapses 90 days after it was made.
  • For a free trial, the purchase is the charge at the end of the trial. The credit, the rate and any discount are those in force that day.
  • A repurchase after the buyer's access ended stays credited to you. That changes if you have left the programme, or every commission on the first purchase was reversed.
  • Not counted: you, your other accounts, your own courses and courses you work on as a collaborator. Nor is anything while your account is turned off or after you have left.
  • Buyers see nothing different and pay the usual price, apart from a discount the creator funds. Section 3 of Affiliate Commission & Payouts has the terms, and the Cookie Policy the cookie.
