Image, video and audio
Images and audio stored privately with the lesson, and video from YouTube, Vimeo, Wistia or Loom, loaded with one click.
Images and audio you upload are stored privately with the lesson, and only students who can open the lesson can load them. Videos come from YouTube, Vimeo, Wistia or Loom, and students load them with one click.
Image
Upload a JPG, PNG or WEBP; it is resized to 1,600 pixels and saved as WEBP. Its options are a width of 100%, 75%, 50% or 33%, and Fit, Crop or Fill. It also takes a height, a frame, a shadow, a caption and points you mark on it. Write the alt text under Describe the image for screen readers…: the Accessibility policy asks for it on every image.
Video
Paste a link from YouTube, Vimeo, Wistia or Loom, and the block finds its length. A start time works on all four, an end time on YouTube only, and the Editor shows only the options that host's player obeys. Captions belong on the video at its host.
Audio
Upload an MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG, WebM or AAC file of up to 25 MB, and write its transcript underneath. Students get a Show transcript button.
Rules and limits
- Every image, audio file and file you upload counts towards the course's size, which sets its publishing fee and price floor. See Price floors.
- An image pasted as a web address is not private and does not count towards the size.
- Autoplay on YouTube starts muted, and nothing plays until the student loads it.
If something goes wrong
- "That image could not be read…"
- Try a JPG, PNG or WEBP.
- "Audio files can be up to 25 MB…"
- Choose a smaller file.
- "That link cannot be played here…"
- Use a link from one of the four hosts.
- "couldn't auto-detect — enter manually"
- Type the video's length yourself.
