Discussion
A written prompt, answers shared with the class or kept private, and a minimum length that holds.
A discussion asks each student to answer a prompt in writing. You choose whether they can share their answer with the class, and you and your collaborators read every answer, shared or not.
What's on it
- Let students share their response with the class
- On to start. Each student then chooses whether to share theirs.
- Hide shared responses until a student has answered
- On to start, so nobody copies. Shown while sharing is on.
- Require a response to complete this lesson
- Students must answer before they can complete the lesson.
- Minimum characters
- Leave it blank for none.
Rules and limits
- The minimum length and the sharing switch hold even if a student tries to get round them.
- Students are told: "Only you and the people who teach this course can see this" for an unshared answer. You see such answers marked Private.
- Answering needs an active enrolment. Students can change their answer later, and whether it is shared.
- The class list shows the latest 200 answers.
- Ask for nothing sensitive or personal, under the Course Content Policy.
If something goes wrong
- "Your response needs at least N characters."
- The answer is under your minimum.
