Poll

One question, its options and anonymous totals that everyone in the course sees.

A poll asks the class one question and shows the totals. Every poll is anonymous: students see the counts, and nobody, the creator included, sees who voted for what.

How to make a poll

  1. 1.

Add a Poll block and type the question.

  2. 2.

Choose Add Option for each answer and type it.

  3. 3.

Open Preview to see it as students do.

Rules and limits

  • Each student votes once.
  • A poll stays open as long as the lesson does, and voting does not count towards finishing the lesson.
  • The totals show to everyone in the course, before and after they vote. In the Editor you see them in Preview.
  • Deleting an option deletes its votes, and those students can vote again.
  • Do not ask for sensitive personal information in a poll, under the Course Content Policy.

If something goes wrong

"You must be enrolled in this course to vote."
Shown to someone not enrolled, such as a visitor on a preview lesson.
"Your vote was not saved. Try again."
The vote did not reach us.
