Room invite links

An invite link joins you to a group room, in its general channel, until it expires, runs out of uses or is replaced.

A room invite link looks like acada.ac/invite/ followed by a 16-character code. Open it signed in and you join the room, in its general channel. Signed out, you are asked to sign in first and then taken through.

How it works

  • A group room has one link at a time. A member whose role allows invites can copy it, or make one, from Invite people at the top of the room.
  • Whoever makes a link chooses how long it lasts: 1, 7 or 30 days, or no end. They also choose its uses: 1, 5, 10, 25, 100 or no limit.
  • A new link lasts 7 days with no limit on uses, unless they change it.
  • A moderator can replace a link at any time, and the old one stops working.
  • A course room has no link: you join it by enrolling in the course.
  • Joining needs an account, and room rules apply from the moment you are in.

If something goes wrong

"This invite link has expired…" or "This invite link has been used as many times as it allows…"
Ask whoever sent it for a new one.
"This invite link does not work…"
It was turned off, mistyped, or is for a course room. Ask whoever sent it for the current link.
"You are banned from this room…"
A moderator banned you. If the ban has an end date, the message gives it.
"This room has been archived, so nobody can join it."
The room is closed.

Making and replacing links is in Invites. Room invites are separate from the waitlist invite codes that open sign-up.
