Course rooms

Every published course has a room you join on enrolling; it takes no invitations and stays, with its messages, after the course closes.

Every published course has a room of its own, made the first time the course is published. You join it when you enrol, and it is pinned to the top of your Social page. Inside the course, it is the Chat part of the workspace. The creator is its owner.

How it works

  • It starts with a Course category, a Study Groups category and an announcements channel, where only the people who run the course post.
  • The only way in is to enrol in the course. A course room has no invite link and takes no invitations.
  • Leaving the course removes you from the room, and coming back to the course puts you back in it.
  • A ban from the room keeps you out of the room only. Your enrolment and your lessons are untouched.
  • A course room cannot be deleted.

When access ends

If your access ends, or your purchase is refunded, you stay in the room's member list but can no longer read or post in it. While a course is on hold after a copyright notice, its students cannot open the room.

When a course closes

The room stays, with its members and messages, and stops being the course's room. Its announcements channel no longer notifies anyone. See When a course closes and Purchases, Refunds & Subscriptions.

If something goes wrong

"This room belongs to a course, so it cannot be deleted…"
A course room stays as long as its members do.
"This invite link does not work…"
Course rooms have no invite links. Enrol in the course to join.
