Active sessions

Every device signed in to your account, with where and when it was last active, and a way to sign any of them out.

Settings → Security → Active Sessions

Open it

Active Sessions lists every device where your account is signed in, most recently active first. Sign out one device with the X beside it, or every device but this one with Sign Out Others.

What's on it

Device
The browser and system, for example Edge on Windows or Safari on iOS.
This device
Marks the device you are using now. It has no X.
IP address and Last active
Where the device last connected from, and when it was last active.

How to sign out a device

  1. 1.

Find the device in Active Sessions.

  2. 2.

Choose the X beside it, Sign out this device. It leaves the list.

To sign out every other device at once, choose Sign Out Others. There is no confirmation step, and the banner reads Signed out of all other devices.

Rules and limits

  • A device you sign out cannot renew its sign-in. A page it already has open stops working when its current sign-in runs out, and it then has to sign in again.
  • Changing your password signs out every other device by itself. A password reset signs out every device, this one included.
  • Turning on two-factor authentication signs nobody out, but every other device must give a code before it can go on.
  • For past sign-ins rather than current ones, see Login history.

If something goes wrong

A device you do not recognise
Sign it out, then change your password and turn on two-factor authentication. See Staying safe.
"Failed to sign out that device."
That device is still signed in. Reload the page and try again.
"Failed to sign out other devices."
Nothing changed. Try again in a moment.
"No active sessions found."
The list did not load. Reload the page.
