Switching between student and creator

Your account is a student account or a creator account, and one button under Account Type switches it either way, as often as you like. Becoming a creator costs nothing, and you must be 18 or older.

Before you switch

• Switching changes what you can make, not what you have. Your enrolments, progress, certificates and rooms stay as they are.
• An account whose date of birth is under 18 cannot switch to creator.
• Being an affiliate is separate from the account type: students and creators can both join. See Joining the programme.

How to switch to creator

   Open Settings → Account and find Account Type.

   Choose Switch to Creator. There is no confirmation step.

   The banner reads Upgraded to creator account, and the Creator Dashboard appears in the sidebar.

How to switch back to student

   Choose Switch to Student under Account Type.

What happens next

As a creator, you have the Creator Dashboard, and the Creator Onboarding course is added to your courses, free for life. Becoming a creator covers what to do first.

Switching back hides the Creator Dashboard. Nothing in it is deleted, and switching to creator again brings it back as it was. Your published courses stay on sale and their students keep their access. To take a course off sale, retire it first: see Unpublishing, retiring or deleting a course.

If you collaborate on someone else's course, or have earnings as a collaborator, you keep the Creator Dashboard for that work.

If something goes wrong

"You need to be 18 or older to create courses on ACADA."

Your date of birth on file is under 18. If it is wrong, write to support@acada.ac.

"Failed to change account type"

Nothing changed. Reload the page and try again.
