Privacy settings

Choose who sees your profile, whether you are on the leaderboards, which creators can email you, link warnings, blocks and embedded content.

Open it

Privacy holds your choices about who sees you and who can reach you. Each one saves as soon as you choose it, and a banner confirms it.

Profile Visibility

With Public, other members can see your portfolio. With Followers only, only your followers can, and you approve each new one. With Private, they see "This profile is private." instead. Your name, username, photo and country still show where you take part, such as course rooms and messages, and our staff can see your portfolio.

A profile that is not public is left out of people search, the leaderboards and people suggestions. If you are under 18, your profile starts private, and you can make it public. See Who can see your portfolio.

Followers

With Anyone, people follow you without asking. With People you approve, they ask, and you approve or decline each request under Follow Requests on the Social page. Declining tells nobody. Members under 18 start with People you approve. See Following, followers and mutuals.

Messages

Choose who can start a conversation with you or invite you to a group chat: Anyone, People you follow or No one. A conversation you have written in stays open either way. Course staff, on unless you turn it off, lets the people who run a course you take message you whatever you chose. Under 18, the choice is People you follow or No one, with no staff exception. With Message requests on, someone your choice leaves out can send one message, which waits for you to accept. Requests are off under 18. See Direct messages.

Leaderboards

With On, your name, XP and rank are on the leaderboards, and your level shows on your portfolio. With Off, you are not shown, other members do not see your XP or level, and leaderboard achievements are not awarded. You are shown only while your profile is public, and members under 18 are never shown.

Creators Who Can Email You

After you buy a course or start a trial, the confirmation page asks whether the creator may email you, off unless you tick it. Here, each course you are enrolled in has a row, with Share or Sharing. A creator you share with sees your address for that course only and may use it only about that course. Turn it off and it disappears from their view at once.

The other sections

Read Receipts
With Off, nobody sees when you have read their messages. See Read receipts and typing indicators.
People Search
With Off, you are left out of people search and suggestions. Only people who follow you can find you to invite you, and a link to your portfolio still opens it.
External Link Safety
With On, a link to another site shows a Leaving ACADA notice first, unless you trusted the site. Trusted sites are listed with Forget, after which we ask again before opening that site.
Blocked Users
Search at least 2 characters of a name or username and choose Block. Blocking removes follows both ways and closes direct messages between you. Unblock lifts it, but follows do not come back.
Embedded Content
Videos and tools from other sites, in lessons and chat, load only when you choose. Ask again forgets every Always load choice on this browser.
Portfolio Sections
Edit on portfolio opens your portfolio, where you can hide sections from visitors, such as your courses, certificates and follower lists.

Signed in, your link warning setting and trusted sites are kept on your account. The embedded content choices are kept in this browser. See Blocking and unblocking.
