Staying safe
We never ask for your password, a card number or a payment by message or email, and our own accounts carry the ACADA staff label.
We never ask for your password, a card number or a payment by message or email. Our emails come from an address ending in acada.ac. Nobody from ACADA messages you on ACADA to ask you to pay or to verify your account. A message that does is not from us.
How to tell who you are dealing with
- ACADA staff
- The label on an account that belongs to ACADA, on its profile and beside its name in rooms. No other account can carry it.
- Identity verified
- Stripe has confirmed that a real, identified adult holds the account, because we pay them. It says nothing about their qualifications.
Hover over either mark, or tap it, to read what it means. Identity verified shows beside a name on a profile, in search, and beside Taught by on a course page. The Verification Policy defines both.
Links to other sites
A link to another site opens a Leaving ACADA notice with the full address, so you can check where it goes. Choose Continue, Always trust the site, or Cancel. Opening a link in a new tab with a modifier key skips the notice. Turn the notice off, or forget a trusted site, in Settings → Privacy.
If someone tries to scam you
- 1.
Do not pay or send details. Money paid outside ACADA never reaches us, so we cannot refund it.
- 2.
Report the message, profile or course with the reason Scam or fraud, or a profile posing as someone with Impersonation.
- 3.
Block the person in Settings → Privacy if you want no more contact.
We act on the account, keep the records, and help you report it to your bank or the police where we can. A member posing as our staff is closed at once (Fraud & Scams).
Keeping your account safe
- Use a password you use nowhere else, and turn on two-factor authentication.
- Look at Active Sessions and Login History in Security now and then, and sign out any device you do not recognise.
- We email you when a new device signs in, when your password changes, and when two-factor authentication is turned on or off.
- If you think someone else has access, change your password, which signs out every other device, and write to support@acada.ac.
