Affiliate codes
An affiliate's code credits whoever recommended the course; it never raises your price, and some courses take money off for it.
An affiliate is someone who recommends a course and earns a commission from its creator when you buy. Their code goes in the same field as a discount code. The commission comes out of the creator's share, never out of your price.
How it works
- Following an affiliate's link does the same as typing their code. The link opens a page that asks whether we may remember who recommended the course. Continue keeps one cookie for 90 days; Continue without remembering keeps nothing.
- Some creators fund a discount of up to 15% for buyers who arrive on a code or a link. The buy box takes it off, and its total shows a Referral discount line.
- It does not stack with one of our discount codes. You get whichever takes more off; on a tie, the discount code applies.
- Once you buy, the credit is fixed for that purchase and its renewals.
How to enter a code
- 1.
On the course page, choose Add a discount or referral code. In the bag, use the field under Checkout.
- 2.
Type the code and choose Apply.
- 3.
The box says the purchase is credited to the person who recommended the course, with the discount if the course offers one.
If a link has already credited someone and the course offers a buyer discount, the total shows it without your typing anything.
Rules and limits
- A referral code does nothing on a course without an affiliate programme, and bundles take no codes.
- A code left in the field is checked when you buy. One that does not work stops the purchase and says why; clear it to buy without it.
- On a free trial, the code applies to the charge when the trial ends.
- An affiliate never sees who you are. They see the course, the kind of charge and what it earned them.
- Affiliates must say they earn a commission wherever they share a link. If one did not, you can report them from their profile.
- What affiliates may and may not claim is set out in the Marketing Guidelines.
If something goes wrong
- "No discount or referral code has that name."
- Check the spelling with the person who gave it to you.
- "That is your own referral code."
- You cannot earn commission on your own purchase.
- "That referral code belongs to…"
- It is the code of the course's creator or a collaborator, who earn no commission on it.
- "This course is not paying referral commission right now…"
- The creator has no affiliate programme on this course. Clear the code to buy without it.
- "You bought this course before on someone else's recommendation…"
- Your purchase goes ahead, credited to whoever sent you the first time.
