Auto-delete and Save in chat
A channel can delete messages from 1 hour to 30 days after they are sent; Save in chat keeps a message for everyone.
A channel keeps its messages unless someone who runs the room sets it to delete them. With a window set, each message is deleted that long after it was sent, unless someone saved it. In a direct message, either person can set it.
How it works
- The choices are 1 hour, 6 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours, 3 days, 7 days, 30 days and Never.
- Messages past their window are deleted every hour, so one can stay up to an hour longer.
- A message somebody saved stays for everyone, even if the person who saved it leaves the room.
- A message that has been reported stays until the report is dealt with.
How to save a message
- 1.
Point at the message.
- 2.
Choose Save in chat. Choose it again to unsave.
What you can change
People with Manage Channels set it in Room Settings → Channels, under Delete messages after. In a direct message, use Message Auto-Delete in the conversation's settings.
Rules and limits
- A deleted message cannot be brought back.
- A message a moderator removed is kept in the moderation record for 3 years, as the Privacy Policy says.
If something goes wrong
- "That was not saved. Try again."
- The message is not saved. Choose Save in chat again.
