Room settings

Room Settings opens from the gear at the top of the room, for every member. Each person sees what is theirs to see or do there; changing the room takes the permissions below. It has four tabs.

What's on it

Overview

The room's name and photo, Room Info with its ID and member count, and Leaving. Room Colour sets the colour behind the room and on its buttons, links and icons, for everyone.

Channels

Rename channels and categories, move channels, set each channel's auto-delete and slow mode, archive and unarchive channels, and delete them. Everyone else sees the list, and which channels auto-delete.

Roles & Permissions

Members and their roles, custom roles and their ranks, each role's permissions for the room and per channel, and current bans. Moderators and above, or anyone given Manage Roles.

What your own roles allow, room-wide and in each channel.

How to archive a room

   Open Overview.

   Choose Archive room.

An archived room stays readable, and nobody can post until someone chooses Reopen room. Archiving takes Manage Room.

Rules and limits

• Changing the name, photo or colour takes Manage Room, which moderators have unless the owner turns it off.
• Only the owner can delete a group room. A course room cannot be deleted.
• An owner hands the room to someone else before leaving it.

If something goes wrong

"Failed to save name."

Nothing was saved. Manage Room may be off for your role.

"Make someone else the owner before you leave this room…"

Use Make Owner on another member first.
